The economic case
Why Canadian Beaver?
Every dollar is a decision. Canadians increasingly ask whether there is a domestic alternative before sending their money elsewhere. We believe the question deserves to be asked consistently.
01
Support Local Independent Business
Canada’s adult businesses and independent creators advertise here, buy services here, pay rent here, hire people here and participate in Canadian communities. If supporting domestic independent business matters when you are buying coffee, vegetables or furniture, there is no obvious economic reason to abandon the principle when the subject becomes more interesting.
02
Reduce Our Dependence on Foreign Beaver
Canada is a trading nation, and imports are sometimes necessary. Bananas, for example. Beaver is different. Canada is not suffering from a shortage of domestic supply, so before outsourcing we suggest Canadians at least examine what is available closer to home.
03
Protect Canadian Culture
Canadian culture is more than hockey, poutine and apologizing when somebody else walks into you. Canada’s adult technology companies, creators, retailers, manufacturers and entertainers are part of Canadian commercial life as well. They simply have not appeared in enough Heritage Minutes.
04
Shorter Supply Chains
Modern consumers increasingly care about where things originate, how far they travelled and how many borders they crossed. Canadian Beaver offers an elegant answer: shop domestically. The supply chain can become dramatically shorter and, in certain circumstances, approximately the length of a taxi ride.
05
This Is Not Anti-American
America produces many excellent things, and we have nothing against American Beaver. But this is Canada. If Canadians are being encouraged to support Canadian farmers, manufacturers, retailers and technology companies, we are merely asking for consistency when the purchasing decision moves beyond the supermarket.
The Beaver Helped Build Canada.
It seems only reasonable that Canada return the favour.
