Montreal is home to Aylo, the technology and media company whose portfolio includes Pornhub, YouPorn, Brazzers, Men.com and Nutaku. Gamma Entertainment and Adult Time also have deep Montreal roots, as do ManyVids, Bellesa and Mile High Media. Taken together, they make the city one of the most consequential adult-industry centres on the Internet.
This is not a case of attaching a maple leaf to a foreign industry and declaring victory. Canadian companies have built platforms, developed technology, distributed content, created direct-to-fan marketplaces and employed substantial teams in the sector. Silicon Valley has its mythology. Montreal has its browser history.
